gnr

So the gnr has been and gone its taken me a couple of days to get round to posting. firstly finished 2.05.26 and I had a real weston- super- MARE, no hard luck stories,no traffic problems I just stank on the day, shame really as I really wanted to enjoy the experience and ended up all bent out of shape about it.Still looking back if thats all I have to drip about then things can't be too bad. Just like to say thanks for everything team as vinnie jones would say "its been emotional"sorry didn't make sunday nite as had to head back home, anyway , probably would have ended up a little untidy!Be lucky folks and who knows may catch up again sometime,

cheers

all downhill from here

last week, not alot to get done. Did a couple of bits on the radio, Talksport and the local station, a bit of fun but you always come off thinking that you should have said something different and hoping that you didn't sound like a complete prat.
Really looking forward to the weekend now will be staying up on sunday night as have got a few days off. As for training just having a few little doubts that maybe I should have upped the intensity a bit more but hopefully it will all come together on sunday. cheers.

just when you thought it was safe........

Having been lucky lately with injuries thought that it was going to be a nice easy couple of weeks till GNR, but friday morning had a back spasm which has laid me out all weekend. Really frustrating , as unable to do a thing apart from watch rugby on tv( not all bad news) Hopefully it will go as quickly as it arrived and leave a little time to get myself ready to run, I think I have enough miles in but could have really done without it at this stage, so could my girlfriend Louise as I am not the best at being injured ! Oh well better go and do a couple more hours of nothing.

altitude training !!!

Just returned from the lake district, thought that I would take a stroll up Helvellyn. After all how hard could a bit of walking be ?? Outrageous ! thats how hard ,even the downhill bits hurt, so I'm sticking to my normal training from now on. Got 11/12 miles booked in for sunday and that will be my lot apart from some gentle bits next week. Left it late to book my accomodation and finally found somewhere just outside Newcastle, I think its closer to Blackpool but you can't have it all ways !

Great North Run

I am 43 yrs old and work for the RAC as a patrol 'man in a van' I played rugby up till the age of 40 but then it was taking a bit too long to recover so that was that. I always kept pretty fit and mixed gym and running most of the time. I finally got a place in the London marathon this year, after years of trying, and found it a fantastic journey, very hard work but so worthwhile in the end. As for GNR, first thing I've ever won, and training is going fine, even though Mike Parry (talkSPORT Presenter) said I was a bit of a salad dodger when I spoke to him on Talksport !!! See you on the 30th mike. The runners training pack has come in really useful the recovery drink works for me really well.
